The North Face range on Amazon Australia is mostly outerwear and packs: down and synthetic insulated jackets, fleece pullovers and full-zips, waterproof shells and rain jackets, softshells, plus the daypacks the brand sells in volume, along with beanies, gloves and base layers. Which of those are actually reduced shifts with the season and with stock, and this page only ever shows what is discounted right now.
Before comparing two similar-looking jackets, look at two numbers. On down pieces, the fill power tells you how much warmth you get per gram — a higher fill at the same weight is a warmer, more packable jacket — and the fill weight tells you how much of it is in there. On shells, check whether the membrane is the brand's own DryVent or a licensed Gore-Tex construction, and how many layers it is: that difference, not the colour or the badge, is what you are paying for.
Because Australian seasons are inverted, the best outerwear reductions come at the end of winter, roughly through August and September, and again over Boxing Day and the January clearance as retailers empty cold-weather stock. Click Frenzy in November and Black Friday fall just as the new range lands, so they tend to favour packs and lighter layers over heavy insulation.
What gets marked down is predictable: superseded colourways, the previous version of a long-running jacket after a redesign, and mid-range insulation weights. Black shells, the flagship down jackets and the best-known daypacks in core colours hold their price hardest.
